Life coaching and mentoring prices vary more than almost any other personal service. Two people can pay very different amounts for what sounds like the same thing. This guide explains the typical ranges, what drives the price up or down and the questions to ask before you commit.
Typical price ranges
Industry guides put general life coaching at roughly $75 to $200 per session, with experienced or specialized coaches charging $300 to $500 and executive coaches charging more. Multi-month packages commonly run from about $1,200 to $6,000 for three months. These figures come from published industry surveys, such as Noomii’s 2026 pricing guide, and actual prices in your area may differ.
- Per session: the simplest model, often 45 to 60 minutes, paid one session at a time
- Packages: a set number of sessions over a few months, usually at a lower per-session rate
- Monthly plans: a set rate that covers sessions plus contact between them
- Group programs: lower cost per person, with less individual attention
What affects the price
- How often you meet. Weekly support costs more per month than twice a month, and usually produces faster progress.
- Contact between sessions. Text and phone support between meetings is worth a lot and is not always included.
- In person or online. In-person sessions involve travel time, so they can cost more than video sessions.
- Specialty and experience. Executive, career and niche coaching usually costs more than general life coaching.
- Location. Rates in large cities such as Los Angeles tend to be higher than national averages.
What you are actually paying for
A session price only tells part of the story. Before comparing numbers, compare what happens between sessions. The value of coaching or mentoring comes from follow-through, and follow-through usually happens on a Tuesday afternoon, not during the hour you booked.
Ask any coach or mentor you are considering:
- How often will we meet, and for how long?
- Can I reach you between sessions, and how?
- How will we track progress?
- What happens if I need to change the schedule?
- Is there a minimum commitment, and how do I cancel?
How Blackburn Mentoring is priced
Blackburn offers mentoring on two simple plans: a weekly plan, billed week to week, and a monthly plan at one rate for the month. Sessions run 30 or 60 minutes, in person in Los Angeles or by video, and contact between sessions is part of the work. We review rates with you on a free intro call, after you complete a short assessment, so the plan fits your goals before you spend anything.
Is it worth it?
It is worth it when it changes what you actually do each week. A good test: after a month, can you point to concrete things that happened because you had support? A job application sent, a budget kept, a routine that stuck, a hard conversation finally had. If the answer is yes, the support is paying for itself.
