Yes. Families, students and young adults across Nevada can work with a dedicated Blackburn mentor by video. Nearly all of Nevada is on Pacific time, the same as our Los Angeles team, so there is no time difference to manage; West Wendover on the Utah line follows Mountain time, and we schedule there accordingly. Sessions are weekly or more often, with text and phone check-ins between them.
Two population centers and a lot of open country
Most Nevadans live in two places: the Las Vegas valley in the south, including Henderson and North Las Vegas, and the Reno, Sparks and Carson City area in the north. They are roughly seven hours apart by car. Between them is the Great Basin, a vast high desert of ranches, mining towns and small communities like Elko, Ely, Fallon and Winnemucca. For a family in rural Nevada, or for anyone tired of driving across the Las Vegas valley at rush hour, video is simply the practical choice.
Same time zone, real advantages
Being in Pacific time with our team means your schedule and your mentor’s schedule line up exactly. A 3:30 pm session after school is 3:30 pm for the mentor. That makes it easy to find times around shift work, which matters in a state where so many parents and young adults work evenings, nights and weekends in hospitality.
The Nevada economy
- Hospitality, gaming and entertainment in Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe remain the largest employers, with jobs that often run around the clock.
- Logistics, manufacturing and technology have grown fast in northern Nevada, especially east of Reno.
- Mining, gold above all, is a major industry in the rural north and east.
- Construction, health care and government, including military installations, round out the picture.
Young adults here can find work quickly, and the money in tips and shifts can be good early on. The challenge many face is building a longer plan: a career path, savings, maybe more education, while working hours that make routine hard. A mentor helps with exactly that.
Schools and college in Nevada
Nevada’s public schools are organized by county, so districts in the two metros are very large, while rural districts cover huge areas. There are also charter, private and religious schools. The state’s public higher education system includes research universities, a state college and community colleges. Many Nevada students stay in state for college; a good number head to California, Arizona, Utah and beyond, and students from neighboring states come in.

Is there a time difference between Nevada and your mentors?
For almost everyone in Nevada, no. The state is on Pacific time like our Los Angeles team. West Wendover follows Mountain time, and we schedule in local time there too.
Do you meet in person in Las Vegas?
No. In-person sessions are only offered in Los Angeles. Anyone in Nevada works with a mentor by video, with text and phone contact between sessions.
Can sessions fit around casino or hotel shift work?
Yes. Sessions can be early morning, mid-day or evening, and they can move from week to week if a schedule changes.
