Mentoring and Coaching in Fort Worth, Online

Mentoring and coaching with Blackburn is available anywhere in Fort Worth and Tarrant County by video. You work with one dedicated mentor, set goals together, meet weekly or several times a week on a Central time schedule, and keep in touch by text and phone between sessions. Our team is based in Los Angeles, so every Fort Worth session happens online.

Fort Worth is its own place

People in Fort Worth are quick to point out that they are not Dallas, and they have a case. The city keeps its cattle-town roots on display in the Stockyards, while the Cultural District, Sundance Square and the Near Southside give it a different, slower texture than its neighbor to the east. Suburbs like Southlake, Keller, Colleyville, Aledo and Benbrook have grown fast, and the north side has filled in around the Alliance logistics corridor.

The local economy leans on aerospace and defense manufacturing, logistics, health care and energy. That mix matters for young people, because a lot of solid careers here start with a certificate, an apprenticeship or a first job on a production floor rather than a four-year degree.

Paths that do not all run through a campus

A mentor helps a teenager or young adult compare real options instead of defaulting to whatever their friends are doing. Some useful questions to work through together:

  • Which jobs in the area actually interest you, and what training do they ask for?
  • Would a community college program, a trade apprenticeship or a four-year school get you there, and in what order?
  • What could you try this summer, such as a part-time job or a shadowing day, to test the idea before committing?
  • What does the money look like for each path, in broad terms, and who can give you accurate numbers?

Our guides on choosing a trade and building a career without a degree go deeper. A mentor is not a career counselor, but can keep the research moving one week at a time.

Big-school Friday nights and full calendars

High school life in Tarrant County often revolves around football, band, cheer, livestock shows and church youth groups. Those commitments teach a lot. They can also squeeze homework into late nights and leave a student with little practice planning their own week. A mentor helps them see the whole week, decide what comes first and protect sleep during the busiest season.

Session times from Fort Worth

Fort Worth is two hours ahead of Los Angeles. A 4:30 pm session after practice is 2:30 pm for the mentor, and evening sessions can work for young adults with day jobs. Sessions are 30 or 60 minutes on a weekly plan billed week to week or a monthly plan. Summer heat that keeps everyone indoors in July and August makes for good planning time before school starts again in August.

What getting started looks like

  1. Take a short assessment. Tell us about the student or yourself and the goals. It takes about five minutes.
  2. Have a free intro call. Our team reviews it personally and sets up a short call.
  3. Meet the mentor. We match each person with a mentor whose experience and style fit.
  4. Start the plan. 30 or 60 minute video sessions on a weekly or monthly plan, scheduled in your local time.

Where a mentor helps

A mentor is one steady adult outside the family who keeps the plan honest. For teenagers, a parent or guardian joins the intro call, helps set the goals and receives regular progress updates; start with mentoring for high school students. For people in their late teens and twenties, see young adult mentoring. How video sessions run is covered on our online mentoring page, and Texas-wide information is on mentoring in Texas.

Do you meet people in person in Fort Worth?

No. Our team is in Los Angeles, so Fort Worth and Tarrant County mentoring is entirely by video, with text and phone contact between sessions.

Can a mentor help my teen decide between a trade and college?

A mentor helps your teen research options, test them with small real-world steps and make a plan. Mentors do not give formal career or admissions advice, and they can coordinate with a school counselor.

Central time. Sessions are always scheduled in your local time, so you never have to convert from Pacific.
